I feed a handful each day to the ponies that Im breaking in.
Last week I noticed grit in the bottom of the bowls once thay had finished, so I stopped using my outside tap and used kitchen tap to see if any different.
But was still gritty, is it always got grit in it? And I haven't noticed as only ever usually feed it with mix and SB?

Sorry if its a totally numpty question

My friend noticed this and she rang the manafacturers who said it was lime stone, although to me it feels like sand we both stopped using it as sometimes there was quite a lot of this gritty stuff.

Very interesting post. One of mine passed a huge amount of what looked like blackened sand with his droppings. I couldn't work out where it had come from (we are on sand but it didn't look like our sand if you know what I mean!).

Anyway, quite by chance I rinsed off a scoop of mollichaff to reduce the sugar and there left in the bottom was probably a good handful of this blackened gritty stuff. Time to change to a different brand I think.

Very odd.

Mollichaff Veteran.

I am a bit stuck chaffwise because the pony has limited chewing ability due to lack of teeth, I used to feed this lovely chaff called Happy Chaff but can't seem to get it any more.
