One day event

After gaining confidence in a clear round show jumping I have decided to book in for a one day event (2ft3 jumping and p14) this is just a have ago day , the horse I am riding is currently out of work due to being lame but my yard tells me he should be back in time for the show , this means I probably won't ride him until the day (I have ridden him before jumping and flat ) so how can I practice dressage with out a horse.

Hmm the only thing I can suggest is that you visualise riding the test in you head (real time if poss). Also keep your fingers and toes x that the horse is sound in time. TBH I would be worried if the horse is only just sound the day before but it may depend on what is causing it. Assuming fitness is no issue?

Fitness is no issue as far as I am aware , it's in 4 weeks time so I hope it will be sound , Thanks for the advice

Is this a riding school horse as I don't see how it is feasible to compete without the horse being ridden between now and then, unless you mean that it will be ridden but not necessarily by you.
That aside you could
a) prance around the living room (seriously I used to do this !) and it at least gives you an idea as where you should be heading next
b) Google the test and I expect you can find a few riding it on uTube, which can be quite helpful

Yes the horse is a riding school horse so will be ridden by the staff , thanks for the help I will for sure be trying both

Thanks for everyone's advice the horse is now sound but I'm riding a different horse as the other isn't jumping at the moment
