Hope this doesn't sound disturbed!!!!!
Do any of you find your gelding acting differently to you at 'that time of the month'?!
It's 'that time' for me at the mo (too much info I know & I'm sorry!) and last night I was poo picking near the fence which seperates my lad from another gelding - the other gelding was grazing on his side of the fence nearby. My lad wandered down the field, nuzzled my arm then quite deliberately placed himself between me & the fence & therefore the other gelding! He didn't move me or attempt to he just kind of wedged himself in there!
He's usually a soppy so & so & always wants to be with me in the field but I was amazed at his behaviour as it seemed much more protective!
Anyone else experience anything similar? Please tell me I'm not weird (or my gelding isn't at least!)

No but i went for a job at a stud and was told certain horses couldnt be handled by anyone at their time of month and i was to tell one of the stable lads so they could take over- I declined the job I am NOT telling 18yr old boys when i have my period!

Lol, yes... I must admit I do... he really doesn't like me near other horses much, pulls faces at them, but 'that time of the month', if Im walking through the field with OH, he will gently push between us and attempt to herd me away - which I hasten to add he doesn't achieve! Often thought it was because he'd developed an OTT bond to me when he was a foal...however... when my beloved Keltie was alive... she was really over-protective of me when I was pregnant with my little boy... and when he was born she wouldn't leave him alone - even standing next to the car when he was inside.. I used to put his carseat outside the stales when I was mucking out, she would nicker to him, very sweet... another reason I miss her so much!

my friend works at a heavy horse centre and they have a shire stallion who picks up on it! (and is SUPER friendly at the best of times!)

My old gelding used to be more nuzzly!

my cob at the moment, just doesnt care (unless I have food)

I just put it down to our bond also but I def noticed a difference this time round - he's only ever wanted to sniff me more at other times and be with me more rather than actively trying to protect me!!!!!!

Crickey! Isn't it funny?! You'd think they'd realise we're not the same species & they wouldn't be interested! Strange!

Can't say that I noticed it at a particular time of the month but I did have 2 geldings, both of which wouldn't let anything else in the field near me - not great when it's not them you want to catch.
Individually it wasn't a problem as I didn't own them both at the same time (one 12.2 one 14.2) but then I got given the 12.2 back to retire and they were turned out together, I ended up stood in the middle of the field with them circling round me keeping everything else (and each other) away much to everyone else's amusement - was just thankful at the time that neither of them got nasty about it!
