doing movments one handed is supposed to show supplness, obedience and self carriage of any horse. It's more often seen withing carriage driving (often required movement of the dressage) and display Dressage. Saw a lovely pic of Issabella Worth riding the perfect passage one handed the other day.

TBH, I don't see the issue although it is not a required movement of the native breeds. maybe he thinks its just showing off too much!

I must admit to being a bit confused by this one - riding canter one-handed is quite often seen in arab, riding horse, hack and ISRT classes, and is used to demonstrate obedience, manners and suppleness. I can't, however, say that I have ever seen it done in Highland breed classes (I'm Scottish!), or any other M & M classes for that matter. I can see why it is done in hack classes, where manners are of the utmost importance, but as an owner of several M & Ms, letting go voluntarily with one hand is not top of my list ! lol
