One more dressage saddle question!! Could you do this.....

So as I explained in my post yesterday my dressage saddle has the strap out of the block, do you think there is anyway a saddle fitter could remove this strap and add another one in the middle?

Remove red strap and put in a new one where the blue one is.....

I couldnt see why not. My Ideal has one coming under the knee block, but also has a webbed loop I would guess ready for a strap to be used off it.

The strap coming out of the knee block is really only used for forward girth grooves and roly poly ponies who need the saddle to be anchored down.

Did your saddle recommend this girth strap arrangement?
 
No it is what has always been on the saddle from the day I bought it. There is one strap in the middle one out of the front knee block.

And it is a limited edition saddle meant to of been made for a top german rider apparently

I have an Albion that has had an extra strap added further back, we didn't remove the front strap in case I ever want to sell the saddle. We just tuck it through the top of the girth retainers and you would never notice.

The Albion does not have a Y girth though, it's a conventional one.

I have a Kieffer that I want to sell, it has flair fitted, that may fir Dex as it's adjustable.

The Barnsby Special Edition Saddles were manufactured in the late 1980's. There were only 100 made and therefore termed as "limited edition" models. The closest current model specification is our 720 Omega Saddle. I hope this helps and my apologies we are unable to provide any further information for you.

If you can find the serial no and email it to barnsby they will identify it for you. They did a number of special editions, including a Richard Davidson and a "Bonfire" saddle off the top of my head

right I asked Tom, whilst he was here, he says you could do it but would possibly need to use an extra webbing as adding a second strap to the Y would unbalance the saddle.

Also said DO NOT cut off the point strap, it will tuck in and help if you ever want to sell.
