where you actually begin to realise that your dreams might be possible :)

I've been struggling for 3 or 4 months with Jensen's canter, he was amazingly crooked when I got him and it is going to take a lot of work to sort him out (with an awful lot of help from my trainer....) I was genuinely beginning to think there was some major problem which meant he COULDN'T do it rather than wouldn't (he tries very hard bless him), and being me I was beating myself up big time because I wasn't good enough to get him to do it properly.

Tonight we did one simple 20m circle in left canter, in a relaxed un-stressed and relatively (for him) good outline - it is ridiculous, it is over-emotional, it is totally stupid but I genuinely thought we would never get there - it means so much to me :) :) :)

I know it won't be all plain sailing, I know I am over-reacting, but I am so flipping happy tonight :D

Congratulations! You should be proud of yourself too, sounds like you're doing a fab job with him and putting in all the work with him. Good luck for the future :)

That's fantastic :D
It is those moments, when you get a glimpse of what they can become that makes the whole process so special

You're not over reacting - there's a very good reason why circles of ever decreasing sizes are in dressage tests :). Enjoy the feeling :)

Thanks all :) :) I bought a bottle of Prosecco to celebrate and told my OH - and he said 'oh right'.... grrr non-horsey people, what do they know :D Tristar you have summed it up, those moments make it all worth while :)

Massive well done!

This makes for positive reading for me. Brian has decided that he cannot do right canter lead when asked in the school (can do it fine when jumping, hacking etc) so it's nice to hear that people conquer these trials!
