The rain in all of northern ireland falls mostly on my arena. I can count on my hand the amount of times i have ridden and been dry! One thing for sure, is that i'm not a fair weather rider anymore. There is actually a running joke about me and the rain, and anyone who wants to ride avoids me like the plague cause they know it will be raining if im riding!

Anywho, get wet horse in and dry off in the stable, rain starts to pound even harder but there is no stopping in the sky, so i head out anyway and ride. horsey was quite good despite the rain and lots of wind and hedge monsters, no spooking. Id just done a few little cross pole trots and a half cavaletti and a man decides to stand on top of the hill shouting "yooo yoooo" and i head a bunch of dogs barking. This sends the horses in the field a bit barmy, and my fella (whos hunted) thinks its time to go and felt like a bomb about to go off so i walked back to the stables and called it a day. Was my first time trying jumps on my own though, so i'm well proud of myself.

I'm just so sick of the rain though. I had to get home, get the foal in cause it was freezing and go to bed with my eletric blanket on to try and warm up. I hate to moan but come on it is summer!!! I'm bloomin moving.

Aaaah bless the little girl, look at her Curley hair!!!

She is definitely a little charmer. She has learned now that pawing the ground gets a scratch cause i accidentally rewarded it the first time she did it! Its very cute, but probably not something i want to further encourage lol. Shes almost got the "pressure release" thing though, so very nearly halter trained. Shes very smart :D

Very cute.
Are you in fermanagh lol?
Come on, it stopped raining and the sun came out, 21 degrees at 7pm. It hasn't been this warm in NI for weeks.

I don't know if I really want winter, rain is guaranteed all year round here but in winter it is colder :(

I'm lucky my yard has an indoor, thankfully. Not so lucky that the 3 minute run from stable to indoor gets rid of the point of the indoor a bit as you still end up soaked and with a wet bum from the saddle which is soaked by the time you get there.

That said, I hate this warm rain as well. To ride outside, you get soaked and to ride inside you may as well have ridden outside as it's like a sauna!

The humidity has rendered my stables unusable - it's like walking into an oven! I'm hoping it cools down soon, as I'd like to be able to stand them in for the farrier rather than tying up on the yard to wait.

We were at pc camp yesterday equi. . Absolutely drenched :(

Your foal is soon cute.

Our horses are in all morning waiting for a break in the weather :( we're still waiting :(

we're in the process of putting up an indoor arena with internal stables, once thats up, everything will be a million times easier and winter can come. Agree though, doesn't feel like summer; at least with winter you know where you stand. Torrential rain and a drop in temp overnight made me consider throwing rugs on...

I did spare a thought for those out and about yesterday!

I did too until my mum reminded me of the "can't stay warm if hairs trapped" and "they sweat even in the rain" wise woman she is. Esp for a non horse woman. I must have rubbed off on her 😂

My yard in South Yorks has its own micro climate! Wind up to 50mph when at home its a light breeze, pouring rain. Grazing has no shelter whatsoever. Never known a place like it tbh. Right on top of a hill and the weather is atrocious! Not even warm when it rains.. I've known about 5 completely dry breezy days in the time I've been there. Dreading winter even more to be honest :(
