Thought you would like to be amused by my ride from hell this morning!!!!!! Well the sun is shining and it is quite mild and a lovely day...ideal for my morning hack in the country...even if my boy is a bit of a plod at the moment!
So off we set and no sooner are we 5 mins away when the lorries start appearing...typical! Now he is good in traffic and not bothered but you still need to find somewhere safe to tuck yourself and he was in plod mode and not wanting to rush anywhere! So we carry on and get stopped by another 3 lorries at different times!
So then it appears quiet again and we carry on up a step hill section of road and approach a blind bend when....bam....out of no where something dares to rustle in the hedge....so I am taken completely by surprise as he spins round in the opposite direction and proceeds to do a smart canter down hill on the wrong side of the road
At the same time I can hear a car approaching...I have lost my stirrup on one side and listing over too as the saddle has slipped slightly...ahhhhhhh
I gather him to a trot...still not nice on a road downhill and eventually...after an age...I get my stirrup back, right myself and get a walk...just as the car passes us...thank god for that!
Later on in the ride we also meet the recycling lorry so have to loiter behind that as it stops at the farms and makes a god almighty racket as the bottles are emptied.
By now we are nearly home...thankfully...but what's this...someone walking up the lane with a pony in hand....MONSTER ALERT!!!!!!!
The man sees my 'stallion' in full plant mode so moves into the hedge to wait...but he has hidden himself now so my boy becomes even more stressed! So after much encouragement, pleading and a bit of booting...we get off in the end and bribe him past with mints - much to the amusement of the guy with the pony!
What a nightmare ride! Oh and we have to pass a JCB doing ditch digging by my field but manage to skirt round it on his toes doing a balerina impression...and thankfully get home in one piece...if a little shattered!!!!
Anyone else have 'plesant rides out in the country like this'?!
