Hi, I would anyone be able to reccomend a one off calmer to take the edge off for cross country schooling. I am not looking for something to use long term just try and help me out in exciting situations!!

umm, tbh i'd try a different approach. as long as you have a bit in that you can stop with, i think that when schooling, jumping a few, then wandering around deciding what to do next, or chatting with your mates/trainer about how those went, then picking up and jumping a couple more, walking around again, works in a very good way to calm down a tizzy horse. just an idea anyway. best of luck!

Its not stopping i am worried about, its being bucked off before we start!! I am planning to keep it low key and calm, he is only a youngster, but is feeling very fresh atm!! Thanks for tips though, thats the kind of plan I have

I would be very adverse to using a calmer for any sort of jumping. I'd want the horse to have his wits about him, and although being fizzy might mean he's not as such, at least he has the energy to find that 'fifth leg' whereas surely a calmer will dull the senses??

I understand where you are coming from..the only one that i found was working was Equine America SUPER CALM (£15 or there around) paste, you give the paste in 2 doses,we found that to give 1 dose 1.5 hour before the event and the second dose 45 minutes before worked the best on a hyper TB

I've just picked one up from my local tack shop by Equine America, called So Kalm (came v highly recommended by her and does not affect performance). It was a syringe containing enough for 3 doses, was £13 and you give them it about 2 hours before you need it to kick in.
