Sorry, this is just a rant! finally got my youngster to the point where i can get on him and all is well, thought we were finally getting somewhere last week, lead him down the driveway(too stoney for him) walk a little further till he looks nice and relaxed, then mount, give him a pat, check girth etc, and off we go in a nice relaxed walk, off in front of his friend, marvellous stuff, all very proud. Called the farrier, booked him in for front shoes today, thought great, we are finally getting there, took him out saturday, same routine, went to get on, half way on him, off he went like a bucking catherine wheel! i have no idea what was wrong, when he stopped , walked him further till he looked relaxed again, got on, all was well again, clearly i just tried to get on him too soon? dont really wanna get to the point of lunging him before i ride, he has been started using natural horsemanship, rant over !
