Far better for them to do that and stop traffic than that horse being hit by a car!

.....stupid French people who taught their horses to be used to flashing lights and loud noises(although there were no sirens as far as I'm aware). The horse was a Republic Guard horse and really wouldn't be scared of city centre traffic......

Bit embarassing for the Guarde Republicaine, I saw their display last month live in Avignon, superb, bit like a cross between the Household Cavalry and our Metropolitan police display, try to view on line, its worth it.
Thank fully there were no loose horses that night!

To quote Stinker Stonker's Mum "Everyone should have a Cleveland Bay".

Trot happily down the Mall with thousands of cheering crowds; trot from Windsor to Ascot down a packed racecourse with never a spook.

The Repulican Guard should have Cleveland Bays - they make great Police Horses too.

i think they did bloody well to be fair. and i read in a paper the horse was fine and also the rider it dropped when it spooked. fancy nothing hitting it, that is paris after all and i have driven through there and i wouldnt care to repeat it.
also without the sirens and flashing lights the traffic woldnt have been stopping at the intersections and horsey wold be dead by now. so good job french police i say.

From account I heard on TV it was using its homing instincts and heading back to stables
A little worried at blood on it--nose bleed? or banged its nose when it fell?
Expect it has been rather sore since

Re: British police horses - I witnessed an amusing incident where a police horse took off bucking in Hyde park and escaped. Was followed by another police horse in an attempt to catch it but he/she decided that cantering across the green grass of Hyde park was too exciting for words and also deposited rider on the floor. Both horses did stop and eat eventually and we then saw them re-united with their riders shortly afterwards. Asked if they were young and police man said yes - mines 10.

Thats a bit racist! And with regards to chasing the horse with police vehicles. TBH they needed the flashing lights to vaguelly try and warn people up ahead and I didnt hear any sirens...
