This week has been great. My trainers wife said rather than going to the added expense of getting a horse on loan at the moment I could have lessons on her saint of a horse "Wit" who is a great confidence giver and her "Asprin Horse" as she calls him.
So apart from the fact that compared to my 16.3 monster Wit at 15hh feels tiny and it feels really odd to be able to groom his backside without standing on a box! he is being fabulous and I am feeling 100% more confident.
I have had a lesson on Mon - Friday this week and my trainer has been really making me work on position, security in the saddle, relaxing (apparently i occasionally forget to breathe), working on being totally in synch with the horse and practicing my one rein stops (jan loves this he gets me doing an exercise then suddenly yells NOW and I have to perform a one rein stop as quickly as possible oh how he laughs.....the sod!).
Best thing is that first time today I forgot to take the rescue remedy and only realized half way through.
We have lessons booked at the rate of 5 per week through to the end of June.
Vardi meanwhile is doing well, he scared himself as much as I did and jan has been riding him every day this week . He has settled back down and will be working on getting his under saddle hours up with both Jan and his daughter from next week.
Hopefully we will both come back together each with far more confidence at the end of the summer.
