my 2yo filly went lame back in February, at the time we had sheet ice and she was living out. Got the vet, he could feel a pocket of fluid on the stifle, said to rest her and see what happened. She has got steadily better but is stil not sound, probably 95% but looks a bit sore on the turn and a little stiff in her movement. When trotting away she looks fairly level. I have spoken to the vet a couple of months ago who said to continue with the field rest (treat as normal then being 2yo and out) his thoughts were if it was ocd she would have got worse, same with cysts etc, given her value (pony) and the costs of investigative treatment just to leave and see what happens.
I have been there with regards to investigative with another horse who was insured for vets fees, cost a fortune and was told to rest him anyway.
Any thoughts on this, i just feel its dragging on or am i being impatient. Im not looking for a miracle cure or to have her sound to ride.
I know if its a ligament tear or similar it can take months.
probably just looking for reassurance as just wondering what the long term outcome will be.
