I went unaffiliated jumping yesterday at Onley Grounds for the first time and thought I'd do a quick review for those that haven't been yet.
Sorry to say I only decided to go to this venue as there was nothing suitable on anywhere else, Solihull, Weston Lawns, Gracelands, Swallowfield, Stoneleigh all had nothing suitable so I took a gamble and went along to Onley and what a good job I did. It has now become my favourite venue!
Onley Grounds is situated just the otherside of Dunchurch about two miles from the start of the M45 (Coventry side) in a place called Willoughby, Rugby. The facilities are second to none, large (40 X 77) Andrews Bowen Arena an outdoor (45 X 60)Floodlit Andrews Bowen Arena and a second smaller indoor arena (25 X 60) Andrews Bowen surface. They boast a large viewing gallery with a bar, large car park, lovely toilets and a smashing cafe.
Location wise its easy to get to and the staff are friendly and helpful. There was also a professional photographer who attended the event yesterday.
The surfaces are brilliant, the fences are nice (no nasty fillers)
and the courses were well built, challenging and interesting.
They had a selection of classes for everyone from a 2ft clear round and classes at 2ft 3, 2ft 6, 2ft 9 and 3'0 with an accumulator.
There is a website for Onley Grounds http://www.onleygroundsec.com/index.php
Hope this is of some help to those thinking of going but wondering if it would be worth their while. Would definitely recommend and are looking forward to going again in a couple of weeks.
