I have been out of the horse world for quite a few years, and have been reigniting my love of horses by reading old, and new, horse fiction, I would love to test my horse knowledge again, and learn how the horse world has changed over the last 20 years. In the present economic climate I can't afford to ride or pay for online courses, and also have Long Covid which leaves me fatigued and unable to do the things I used to enjoy, but wondered if anyone can recommend any online education websites, preferably one where I can maybe take online tests to test my knowledge? ? It is purely for my own interest and growth, but I thought it would be fun to delve back into my passion for horses ?❤

I tutor for The Dogenius Institute who have a fab new level 5 equine course but it's definately not free.
You can do good online courses with as MOOCS which are free of charge though. Try googling Coursera equine to see what's coming up with them

You can get books cheap on amazon in the used section. As for courses, I really like E-Horse CPD courses. They might be a bit too niche for what you're looking for and most of them are not free, but I did a brilliant equine first aid course with them and it was so worth the £30. Very pleasant team to deal with too.

There are plenty of free YouTube videos too. Tons on riding and care.

Yes YouTube has become my new friend! ? there is so much on there now. I'll have a look at E-horse, I don't mind paying a little bit, but can't afford to spend a lot x

Are there any YouTube channels you would recommend? ?

My favourite educational channels are:

Amelia Newcombe Dressage
Horse class
Your riding success

Megan Elphick (Elphick event ponies) is my favourite to watch a more ‘behind the scenes’ of a competition rider, plus her videos are just easy watching and fun. Not necessarily educational, but definitely an insight into owning and competing.

If you have an extra £6 a month to spend, Horse and Country TV had lots of different guides on it. Nutrition, riding and general care. Plus you can watch competitions of all kinds. It’s also an app on some smart TVs, so you can watch it on tv instead of on a small screen :)

I used to have a subscription to a website called Horse Hero with lots of nice training/riding videos but it seems it is not running anymore. I wonder if those videos can still be found somewhere.
ETA: it wasn't free but the price was reasonable.

Oh that's great thank you ? I have watched some of the free stuff on Horse and Country TV, but most of it is subscription only, I will definitely check out the YouTube channels though x
