What would you have done?I dont think I could have put a horse through the pain and trauma but then again................?

I think they did what they could to manage the pain. Hourly drops for NINE months. Imagine that. Worse than having a young baby. Then more treatment.... That takes dedication.

How well that controlled his burning eyes, I do not know. But I think what she has managed to acheive with this horse, in building such trust, is AMAZING. He's through the painful part now and is living an active and hopefully happy life. Hopefully the pain is forgotten.

PS: How on Earth a blind horse manages to trail ride across mountainous terrain beats me. How is it he doesn't trip?

Lovely story and shows so much committment and love but I agree with Equitune, very dangerous.... and that horse had to go through a hell of a lot.

i think shes a bit crazy!

Fair enuf it worked out in the end but that was a hell of an adjustment for the horse to make and that sounded like a very long illness....

then again they must have an amazing bond for them to be able to ride etc...

personally i wouldnt have done it ...
if i had a horse go blind for no reason and over a short illness id put them out to live in a field with companions rather than ask it to go through the adjustment of having to learn to trust a rider in all sorts of scary situations....

i saw this when i was dealing with my horse. he was diagnosed with uveitis in both eyes and we decided to put him to sleep its an awful illness (mine had loads of complications) and he went almost completley blind and it was certain he was going to lose the sight he had left. i wouldnt put a horse throughit
