Just picked this up off the Keeneland sales website.

Broodmare Endowment and Newborn Foal Go Through Ring at January Sale
Lexington, KY (January 10, 2007)

Brandywine and Liberation Farm are the new owners of not one but two horses -- two for the price of one, that is. Endowment, a thirteen year-old bay mare by Private Account consigned to Keeneland’s January Horses of All Ages Sale, foaled a Thunder Gulch filly at 11 p.m. Monday on the Keeneland Sales grounds.

The newborn chestnut filly is Endowment's sixth foal. Although she appeared to be stunned by her unknown surroundings, the filly was quiet and amazingly calm as she was led into the sales ring on Tuesday alongside her dam.

Rob Whiteley, owner of the commercial breeding entity Liberation, says that part of Endowment's appeal is that, "Her dam was a champion and Endowment herself was a very good runner." Endowment is Grade III placed and is out of Irish champion Polonia. Whiteley also noted, "The fact that she is able to produce a filly made her all the more appealing."

Whiteley said he is very fond of Thunder Gulch fillies, so he was happy to discover that Endowment had been carrying one. When asked if he planned to sell the foal, Whiteley answered, "We're sellers first but if we end up keeping her as a broodmare, that's a good thing. She's an attractive long-term broodmare prospect."

Endowment and her foal were consigned by Lane's End, agent, and sold for $47,000.

the mare foaled at the sale after she was sold is how I understand it

I understand it that the foal was born on Monday and then both were sold on Tuesday - don't think she foaled after being sold.

Because i would be very surprised if they would let such a thing happen in this country.
Putting a mare through the ordeal of a sale the size of Keeneland when she is due to foal.
They would only take late foaling mares at a sale here in January.

She foaled on Monday night at the sale premises and was put through the sale ring on Tuesday morning.
I think thats very sad.
