Little 12 yo JRT had had arthritis for several years (v unlucky, her sister shows no signs).
Tried everything over the last few years, she either couldn't tolerate or it didn't work. But struck lucky with librela and she has been on that nearly 2 years. Blooming miraculous stuff.

However, it is apparent it is no longer enough. She has got quite a bit of inflammation around her worst affected joint. We do use paracetamol if she is sore. Vet yesterday suggested trying onsior, and if she can't tolerate that, increasing librela dose.

Has anyone any experience of using both?

I am firmly in the camp that I will not let an animal be in pain. Fortunately, at the moment she is still loving her walks (though for a while we are cutting them back on vet advice) and seems happy. So far no reaction to onsior, so am keeping fingers crossed.

George (terrier) had Librella injections for about 2 or 3 years - they made an amazing amount of difference to him! He had been simply refusing to go for walks, but by the second injection he was back to normal. I did have Metacam/loxicom as a top up if needed, but generally it wasn’t necessary. Later on in his life the vet recommended paracetamol instead of Loxicom as the top up, which I never felt was quite as effective.

Mine was on Onsior and Codeine eventually, which was great as I was able to get a prescription and get the codeine from the human chemist. Onsior was £1 cheaper to get a prescription and buy online so something to think about if you don’t already.

We have the higher dose of librella, poppy is on the border between 2 dose sizes (she's 19kg and bigger dose is for 20kg plus.

We tried the lower dose and it just wasn't very effective so bigger dose maybe worth a go.
