Im selling my Ideal apex H+C on ebay at the minute to pay for some rather large vet bills, i don't particularly want to sell it but we've run out of insurance money now :(. It has 1day 4hours to go and i have 16 watchers and no bids! i mean 16!!!!!!! pfffft how depressing............:( no real point but i though some people on here might understand.

Just realised my spelling is shocking- please forgive! I've got the shakes, the vet uis coming down with their lovely portable X-Ray machine today to determine whether the horse needs more surgery! eeeep

Don't panic many ebayers will watch and wait, the last hour is when it all starts to happen, and then the real bids arrive in the last five minutes. The more watchers the better !

And best of luck with the X ray - fingers crossed that all goes well !

Most people will bid at the last moment, personally I just leave snipe bids on things so I bid my max in the last five seconds of bidding.

BUT

If you want decent money for it you need to change your photos. This is intended to help you even if it does sound harsh. The saddle looks uncared for. Give it a damned good clean, try to patch in the really faded places - if the good clean and oil doesn't sort it out - and then take at least one photo with it sitting level as it should on the horse. If you can take a picture with a ruler across the D's etc people can make their own minds up as to the exact width and it helps with any arguments later.

I am not familiar with Ideal, other than well known, so you should push this a bit more, look at Ideal website and pick up a few pointers, it is a good saddle [I think] but looks to have had a hard life, so you need to emphasise good points rather than other way about.
Clean up the badge with metal polish or remove photo.
Cosmetic damage is not the same as fundamental flaws, I am not clear if it is a GP or a VSD or an event saddle.
It might pay to get a saddler to sort out the problems if you can't do it and sell locally you should get £100 - £200 for it even with damage. I paid £208 for a 1985 Jeffries on Ebay.

Ditto what *hic* has said about the photos making it look very worn, which won't help sell it. Can't you spruce it up a bit?

Also, I notice you haven't any feedback, which would make me wary about bidding.

Re. the 16 watchers - I frequently watch stuff similar to what I plan on selling, not buying. Sorry! :o

If it's any consolation I never put a bid in until at least the last hour, sometimes I hang around for the last minute - depending on how much I want the item.

I understand your frustration about the watchers, I regularly have multiple watchers but no bids, it's so frustrating! However like others have said the bidding usually happens at the end. I haven't looked at your listing OP as I am on my phone but judging by what others have said, presentation is key here, make it look as smart as you can and have a good description - that is where a lot of items fall down on eBay, I personally wouldn't buy an item with a short or vague description, or at least I'd send the seller a message asking for more details first. Good luck with selling the saddle, and good luck with the vets.

I recently sold an Ideal on ebay for £390......you have to really sell it though- plenty of decent photos- give it a proper clean and oil first- loads of measurements etc.

In the same week I sold another older one for £220.....

Just sold a knackered landy for a grand too.

The bids went up in the last day though- theres time yet.:)

Don't panic yet. 16 watchers is good, and they are probably trying to be tactical and wait until the last minutes. I bid on a piano for my parents last night, and it all went mad in the last minute! With 2 minutes to go, we had the high bid at £200, then 3 more bidders came in during the dying seconds, and it sold for £620.
