oooo... So annoyed. Advice Please

I have a warmblood x. He doesn't have papers as I got him from a dealer. He is about 16hh, bay.

He is rising 5 and has huge potential, he loves jumping, hacks out alone or in company and will excel at dressage.

My friend (supposed) has him on loan and wanted to buy him. He has all tack and rugs, grooming kit, everything a horse could want.

She reckons the vet has checked him out and that he has soft hocks. She reckons he will never be able to show and that he is only worth £1500 and will never be worth anymore!

She also said, which got me really mad, that she has bought him on better than I ever could. She has only seen me ride twice!

Is this right? Should I get my horse back? What is the soft hocks thing all about?
 
he's your horse! so if you want him back, get him back!! i wouldnt have thought she was in a position to judge your riding if she's barely seen you ride!!

I would get your horse back, someone who treats you like that doesnt deserve your horse! Try getting him vetted yourself see what your vet says. I don't know much about pricing but he is definatly worth more than that.

One of the horses where i work has a very dodgy hock (i dont know what is wrong with it) He doesnt jump, he bucks for britain and he fails vettings but she paid £3000 for him!! He is nothing special breed wise....
 
for a warmblood x rising 5 i think you should be able to get at least 3 grand for him. With or without papers dealers are selling there horses for about £4000, and some are not even really schooled properly or havent seen anything but coloured poles. With tack and all that i think you're looking at £4000- 4500 tbh.
 
if this helps i have a friend who brought a 4 year old dutch warmblood from a dealer, who doesnt have a good reputation and that was for £3500. With no tacks, he also has soft hocks and that was over a year ago and prices have gone up since!
 
Get him back and get your vet to check him out pronto!!

I recon she is trying to pull a fast one to get him on the cheap, even if he has got soft hocks (whatever that is) she is probablky making it sound worse than it is.

If it is so bad and he is worth hardly anything then why does she still want him.

Sounds fishy to me so take him back asap.
 
Get him back home NOW! This person is really taking the Michael. As for "soft hocks", never heard of them. Get him back and end the "friendship" asap. Also, ask to talk to the vet who had a look at him or ask for a written report from him.I think youll find that no vet has seen him and shes trying it on. Good luck and let us know the outcome. M.
