The disco has died. It catastrophically failed its MOT... the list of reasons was 2... TWO.... pages long . but to simplfy it... Rust, rust and more rust, its emissions test was off the scale, and more rust (did i mention the rust?)

so, what can I get for less than 2k, that has a reasonable fuel economy, and will two 2 big horses in a wooden trailer?

that discounts the shogun on fuel economy, and the rangerover on cost....

what does anyone know about the subaru forester?

cake, wine and BBQ (in that order if necessary) for help!!:D

I would go for something like a Nissan Terrano/Maverick or Pajero with that budget. All should be capable of pulling the weight while being good on the fuel economy too.

ditto about the fourtrack. very good 4x4's. i wouldnt trust disco as far as i could throw them, dont get me wrong they could pull a train but when the mot or service comes round you need to win the lottery!! terranos are good to, you can get them in long or short based!

We have a forester, but its the newer design, more 4x4ie in the look. The older versions are 4x4s but look more like an estate. We tow with ours & its very nice with a good mpg. Not sure with the older models but have seen people towing with them previously.

thanks folks.... went to see a fourtrak today. £2k, good condition, 120,000 miles on the clock. had a little drive, had a good poke about, and agreed with the guy that if he gets a garage of our choice to MOT it, and he puts 2 new front tyres on it then it's a deal.

so, MOT pending we're sorted.
