This afternoon I'd decided that Olympic looked really scruffy and I was sick of looking at half grown back coat and really hairy legs which were forever getting clogged full of arena surface! Soooooo, I clipped him!
Olympic, on the other hand, was slightly less impressed with this idea

Before I started he looked like this (the leg hair was about 3 inches long

)

I have never known a horse throw so many tantrums and one minute he was as good as gold and stood like a rock and other times he was like "arrrggghhh, don't touch me!", I almost lost my head a few times aswell

It took me hours...............I think I've broken a knuckle............But I finished him!

I put him back in his box and he sulked (I swear he has the mentality of a 3yo boy

) and he dug massive holes in his banks..

But he now looks like this!

The red, slightly purple, throbbing knuckle is worth it, he looks smart again

looks fab tho-I like to take of legs at this time of year makes washing off so much easier, always wear at hat because got bashed on the nose once and i have never seen so much blood, it was fierce!

I know Missy is a monkey, she loves him but won't admit it....stands there squeeling theres a little love triangle going on at that yard

PMSL, I got a hoof to the lower jaw when I was holding one of his front legs up and leaning across to clip the inside of the opposite leg and he had a twitch.......sod

He looks well, and much better with no legs. At least that should be your last clip for about 6 months

I told him (while he was sulking

) that his hair has to grow back really slowly!
I'm glad you think he looks good

He's lost weight (I'm suddenly able to do his girth up 2 more holes on each side!) but he looks like he's put some on!
He still has patches of hair left up around the top of his neck on both sides which I'm praying nobody notices

I do prefer a horse completely clipped out, legs and all!

Didnt take snoops legs off because i was on my own the first time i took the lot off. But today gave him a bit of a tidy up and took his feathers off and he didnt mind me doing it at all!
Shall take the legs off along with his body in the next month or so.

That is almost what happened to me -was holding a front leg and clipping inside of other front leg and horse kneed me in the chops- he is a bugger anyway and tries to get you with teeth and hooves for most things!

PLEEEASE don't weezy. My one hate about Flora is that she grows no winter coat, so her legs have no protection. The other two have lovely fur, and protects them from so much. When S jumped out of the field and slipped on the road last year she had friction burns on all four legs but only the very top layer of skin off. If her legs were clipped - I don't think we would still have her to be honest. Also out hunting, the only horses to cut themselves ever are the v fine coated ones, the furries are always unmarked at the end of the day.

P is looking v gorgeous with the rest of her hair removed though - completely different girl, and you won't have her moulting all over you.

BB's - he'll look like a proper little jumper with naked legs

KC - Trying to clip up the front of his front legs was interesting, he kept having a twich and flicking his leg forwards so I almost got a knee in the face

He does look as though he has put weight on but his girth is almost on the top holes of the girth straps......Good excuse to buy a new girth though

and I need an excuse to buy him more rugs (well I need an excuse to feed my addiction

) so I shall have to go and pester mother

The purple one isn't too bad........it has no job to do now though seeing as we have no turnout

What happened to summer coats coming through??
Surely if you clip again and again, you wont get any??
