Classic example of me being a complete idiot this afternoon I'm afraid! Me and the OH went up the yard to sort out baby horse (he doesnt live at home), left dogs at home as usual, all were peacefully asleep in the lounge. When we got home some 3-4 hours later all 4 greeted us at the gate! Not that unusual you might think except that I had shut them in the house and our front gates were wide open as we had just driven out! I must have shut but not locked the french doors off the dining room and one of them must have opened it (I have 2 that know how to open doors and the french doors have 'normal' pull down handles)
So my little darlings have been god knows where and up to god knows what this afternoon!
some kind person had obviously rounded up any stragglers and shut them back in the garden! All are present and correct, the terriers have just had a bath as had obviously been somewhere horrifically dirty, no injuries to anyone so I am extremely relieved that my stupidity hasn't led to any nasty accidents.
I feel very guilty, I know it was me and not OH as I got them all in through that door before we went out. The other thing I'm a bit worried about is what exactly they might have done. I'm very much hoping to get a knock on the door from who ever brought them back so I can thank them properly and give them a bottle of something but I very much hope that the knock on the door won't be from some irrate person whos;
a) been bitten (possible with lurcher, although I don't think she would have left the property)
b) had some small fluffy animal maimed or worse eaten
c) had a car crash swerving to get round one of them
d) well anything! I could go on for hours...my mind is running wild
I need a glass of something I think!
