Ooops, I hogged my ISH mane

I don't know what got over me, but while I was clipping my horse, I decided to hog her mane. She has always had the lower part of her mane pulled out over winter due to neck rugs when it is cold so it has been getting thinner and thinner each year. I got the bright idea that if I hogged it, it couldn't be pulled out, now I am full of regret and wondering if I have made a huge mistake. This especially after I read after doing the deed, that her mane could take up to a year to grow! I never keep it particularly long, barely long enough to plait, but am still worried. Any experiences on hogging in winter and growing back in summer please?

It took about a year to grow my cob's mane out.

If it suits your horse though, I'd stick with it. I only grew my horse's out because he hated having it done. It sounds like she never really has a full mane anyway? I think hogging looks very smart on a chunky horse with a nice neck.

My friend hogs her cob for hunting but she turned him away in march this year and he now has about 6/8 inches of mane.

It took three months for mine to go from completely hogged to this:

On a horse with a normal mane, that would be a pretty acceptable length. Unfortunately, she's a cob, so it was still wider than it was long. (She's back to being hogged now. It only got that long because I was out of the country for a few months.)
