Out hacking this afternoon, we were 2 abreast going past some parked cars and vans when Winnie (on the outside) spooked a bit and bumped into Jerry who was pushed near to a parked van, my stirrup caught the wing - mirror of the van and snapped it off!
Hence one very p*ss*d off workman. He wasn't terribly polite even though I apologised and explained it was an accident (although to be fair I would probably feel the same if someone took my wing mirror off)
I have given him my name and address as I have offered to pay for the damage.
Could be one expensive hack!

As long as you're insured don't worry too much about it, wing mirrors are max about £70 I think, depends if its electric or not though.

I am insured so I shan't let it spoil my day especially as I was having a really nice hack out - the first time I have managed to hack out after work this year!

Whoops

!

I just smashed my wingmirror into a lamp post it was electric and a local garage sorted it for £67 so not appauling

Its unfortunate but thats how people are with horse riders sometimes, they don't understand how it is sometimes stressful on the road and not all horses plod along happily, I've just started hacking my horse out alone, only on the quiet roads, he's not great with anything bigger than a van but he's doing really well. I guess its all part of the learning process.

It wasn't as though it was a treasured sports car either - it was a works van!

[/ QUOTE ] That was probably why - he probably gets grief from his employers if it is damaged, and they might not believe that "a horse jumped on it"! Still no excuse to be rude though.

Actually - that's what he said that he would get grief from the company and he would have to pay for the damage. I told him to keep his hair on, it's not the end of the world!
Must go and check my insurance policy now!

Checked insurance policy and have a £250 excess on damage to property so yup - it'll be an expensive hack!
Let's hope it's only going to be about £70 although, knowing my luck it will be about £249!
