Puzzle has busted my foot!! Barged on way out of field, somehow my foot twisted on itself and ended up upside down and then she stood on it, the big oaf! Hopped into the yard with her and OH drove me to A&E.

Soft tissue damage apparently but xray in the morning to be certain!! Joy of joys.

Anyway so please cheer me up people!

Tell me about your silliest injuries with horses? xx

I managed to end up underneath a fitting ISH about 6 months ago...?? :p
luckily no breaks except a torn ligament, bruises and cuts - good job the vet was on the ball and managed to drag me into the stable!!
Hope you recover very soon and there's nothing broken!!

Oh I've done the foot before, my husbands horse was being a twonk and bounced up in the air and landed straight on it. He then just stood there and wouldn't move while I was trying to shove him off, so I gave him a poke in the side and he bounced again and came back down on it ! I had to go around in 1 shoe and a big slipper for a while.

Being stood on by a little shetland, after she decided she was going to be a "big horse in a little body" moment when trying to turn her out!!! Still had the bruises to show for several days later!!!

I had my tb jump on my foot too :-( I was leading him and there was a carrier bag in the hedge and at the last minute he decided it was a horse eating carrier bag and spooked at it, he jumped and spread both his front legs and one of them went on my foot. I was convinced it was broken, it was soo painfull. I hobbled back upto the yard and my mum came and picked me up and took me to a+e. X-rays showed nothing was broken just ligament damage. I was on cruches for 4 days and had a very swollen and very colourful foot. i couldnt wear normal shoes for over a week as my foot was to fat! I still get trouble with it now like today it just cramps up and is very painfull to walk on. when its rested its fine. Horses suck sometimes dont they!

Hope your foot is less painful soon.

Captain is not a clumsy horse and up to the incidents he never stood on anyone's feet. I was being turned him out and I was just undoing the gate and he stepped sideways onto my foot, bruised the little toe. That afternoon going to get him in, he was pratting around, it was bucket time and windy and he stood on little toe again and broke it that time!

He has never stood on anyone's toe since!

Get well soon.
I was just about to get on at a comp but horse decided to jump and land on my foot. I was in so much pain but really wanted to jump. We jumped a very nice clear came 2nd then I went to A&E to find I had a broken toe!

Also day before PC championships for PPG my horse landed funny after a fence and I dislocated my finger, the next day I couldn't vault on with that hand so had to use my opposite hand and do the pick up in the bad one. If you've ever done games you'll know how hard it is vaulting with the opposite hand. We didn't do too bad though, still came 3rd :)

flamehead - they were sedating her to remove staples and we were just helping out/watching as her mum doesn't do vet things and she had a incredibly adverse reaction to the drugs, reared up, fell onto her side, then went loopy, running around the yard, smacking into things, lost her balance, fell over sideways, caught my legs on the way down and landed on me :( it all happened so fast and then the vet dragged me into the stable
She twisted my foot the ligaments tore, I took a kick to the back and a few bruises from cracking my head on the wheelbarrow :o

well I fell out of bed and hurt my foot but my housemate told me it was just bruised - I then went on a 3 hour hack and couldnt get out the saddle afterwards it had swollen up so much, trip to a and e = broken toes and shin damage still having treatment 18 months later

few months after the falling out of bed - fell off at gallop on a hack , horse lept up in air= more damge to said foot, very badly sprained and 3 weeks in a cast.

oh and years ago had a crazy ex racer pull metres of lunge line through my hand - it was blistered but thought it was ok - couple of hours later hand turned green and another trip to a and e lol

hope your ok OP

I fell off and landed on the tip of my little finger. It dislocated and was at right angle to my hand. I was in shock and pulled it back in myself, but was told off at hospital as I could have done more damage doing that.

Hope your foot heals soon. x

Stupidest injuries include:
falling off at canter as horse took a nosedive, I was looking backwards to check the rest of the hack was ok, resulting in pulling a muscle in my neck

Being knocked out when putting feeds in as horses were arguing over the wall and the one who's stable I was in cracked his jaw down on my head, woke up with feed still in hand and blood pouring down my head.

Broken finger from a horse I was leading falling over and me holding onto lead rope too tight, wasn't wrapped around at all, just twisted finger as I gripped.

Being bucked off at canter, then me being silly tried to keep hold and got dragged part the way up the field. Pulled neck muscle again.

Being bucked off onto road as horse cantered off down the verge towards a tractor, leading to concussion, pulled muscle in neck, and very sore shoulder.

All of the above were last year, not a good year!

Before them my mare has broken all of my toes at some point.

Have been bucked off over a wall to avoid jumping a 5 bar gate, I was one side of wall, horse the other but I still had hold, which did something to my shoulder, never went to hospital so who knows but 4 years later it's still a problem!

Kicked in the kneecap by a 11.2 pony, chipped a bit of kneecap off!

To name a few.......seriously wondering whether horses are the right animal for me.....

tripped UP a SINGLE step running to my horse, shattered my foot, thought i had twisted my ankle no crying thought i should walk it off so headed to our furthest field to put him and back i a lot of pain but left it till the next day to head over and find out i had shattered my metatalses(or whatever they are called)...! *********g painful!!!!!!!

I lay accross the saddle of a bucking horse several times, as I dismounted for the 5th time,. I landed wrong, totally knacking my knee, two 4yrs later my knee still gives problems, the bucking from the original incident also broke my ribs, the pain from my knee outweighed the pain of the ribs.
That horse had 3 people in hospital and ended up having to be shot.

I have broken all of my toes several times thanks to a silly tb who stamps on them when he's in a mood and a very clumsy Welshie  I also have had a horse fall on me which was NOT fun. Incidentally, the part of me he didn't fall on - my left arm, was the most damaged part of my body! I broke it quite nastily and had to spend a long time in a plaster cast. The rest of me was black and blue, but otherwise fine. There are many, many other silly accidents but I won't bore you with all the details ;)

Owee!! :o

Got kicked in the foot by Goofball about four years ago. Never been the same since (the foot, not the horse!)

Been chucked off into stinging nettles before, was only wearing a strap top and put my hands out to stop myself... Couldn't hold a pen for days! Only clump of nettles in the whole field, wish I could have timed it better!!

Was jumping a green pony and my stirrup came off... Landed on my head! Was entirely my own fault though :D Taught me not to jump crazies in a dressage saddle...

Lol!! Some real crackers in here. Its only day 1 and im damn bored of hopping!! Off to see the Puzzle this morning- am pleased now that I've been lazy before and taught all our horses to turn themselves out from their boxes!!!
