Having reached the conclusion that I needed something to help me through the loss of Rods, combined with stumbling across this little guy, I've done something stoopid :o Yes, I must me mad, no, I don't know what I was thinking, BUT...

Very much still a baba, but very sweet. Gah. What have I done?! :D

Lurking Arab fan here... He's beautiful, what's his breeding?

Having a potential second Arab vetted this week! Must be the sun making us a bit mad!

Yup... complete polar opposite to Rods, I think I've done it intentionally though. New boy is so different that there's very little to compare, and I've always had a soft spot for arabs. He arrived on Saturday, so yes, I've bought him!

He's by Montroze, out of Celtic Treasure. He's so chilled out he's almost horizontal. Bless him. We'll blame the sun. The sight of a big glowing yellow thing in the sky has made me think the world must be ending! :D

Thank you! He's just turned 4, still very innocent though and yet to really do anything, looking to start groundwork with him as soon as he's settled in :)

Very very nice :) Like the breeding, you have a good amount of Bright Shadow blood in there, he was renowned for his lovely temperament so you are going to be OK :) There is a bit of Indian Magic in there too and that should give you a bit of steel (my Indian Magic horse was utterly fearless  and opinionated to the point of  but he made me as a rider ).

Ahh. I did do a bit of digging re: bloodlines, from what I can gather he's mostly Russian / Crabbet lines, I don't know an awful lot about the horses themselves though. His temperament is fantastic, I've yet to see him put his ears back and he's very people friendly (he offers kisses to anyone he thinks would like one!) - he's been rather shy since he's arrived, but I'm sure he'll come out of his shell once it all sinks in :)

Beautiful horse you have there. My granddaughter has a 21 year old gelding by Sun Shadow. He is almost pure Crabbbet, 98.29% I think. He has a wonderful temperament and after many horror stories with other breeds, she has a terrific bond with this one. He still thinks he's 2 years old but he does behave when he needs to. Good luck with yours, you won't regret getting him, he's gorgeous.

What a beauty. Of course, I'm very much an Arab fan, but I think in your photo of him in the field, he's heartstoppingly pretty and grabs the limelight! I have a chestnut but mine's very picky about who he likes, and it's only now after about 9 months that he's decided I'm tolerable, so enjoy that aspect of yours as I'm quite jealous of that. Gorgeous, I'm sure you won't regret it.

Mine has a mostly russian/polish/crabbet lines.....he's very friendly, loving...loves kisses. Always in a good mood- never nasty- was very timid initially but is actually very brave and forward going. Loves hacking...hates schooling:rolleyes:
Mine was a late developer, he's actually a bit of a chunkster now with an XW fitting saddle:D.

He's beautiful OP.

I actually just burst into tears and can't stop :o.

He looks so like my old boy who was 98% Crabbet.

We had 22 years together and I wish we could've had forever. Nothing beats an Arab - loyal, beautiful, tough, intelligent. And the Crabbets are directly descended from the best war horses from the deserts.

I think you've made an excellent choice :)

Beautiful boy Oberon.

I notice your boy has good, strong feet on him too :)

^^ trust you:D

yup, I noticed that as well. My chestnut arab that looked very similar did over 20 years barefoot riding so hopefully yours will as well. Presumably he is not having shoes.

He is lovely! I am a huge arab fan :D. I had rescued a 2yo straight Egyptian boy 5 years ago, but unfortunately lost him to a broken leg :( :( :(. He was just 5 and was mega!

But then my current girly found me - she's now just 3 and massive! She's 15.2 and still growing. I tried a wide fit saddle on her over the winter (just playing, not backing) and it was no where bear wide enough, and she's still going outwards!! Lol. But she is so soft and kind - I can't wait to begin backing her next summer! :D
