He is stunning, hope you have many fun filled years together!
He is beautiful, really stunning.
Mine is Crabbet, Egyptian, Polish and frighteningly full of himself at the moment!
SadKen, when I got him 2 years' ago, he was not loving at all. Just very fidgety and impatient. As he was my first horse, I had vast amounts of soppiness I had to something with.
It really did take about 18 months and now I feel a bit like we are an old married couple! He is very cuddly after we have been out for a ride, and he comes cantering up to me in the field. I can tell he trusts me, even when he is being a complete idiot, like today.
As he is my first horse, I have no experience of owning another breed, but I do feel a tremendous bond with him. I did just take some time to develop.
Mine has a mostly russian/polish/crabbet lines.....he's very friendly, loving...loves kisses. Always in a good mood- never nasty- was very timid initially but is actually very brave and forward going. Loves hacking...hates schooling
Mine was a late developer, he's actually a bit of a chunkster now with an XW fitting saddle.
He's beautiful OP.
I actually just burst into tears and can't stop.
He looks so like my old boy who was 98% Crabbet.
We had 22 years together and I wish we could've had forever. Nothing beats an Arab - loyal, beautiful, tough, intelligent. And the Crabbets are directly descended from the best war horses from the deserts.
I think you've made an excellent choice
I notice your boy has good, strong feet on him too
Where did you find him?
did someone link to him on DD recently? He is very smart![]()
Wow, breathtaking.
You must keep us updated, all the best with him.
That's lovely![]()
Bluewhippet thanks, I'll bear that in mind! He's a bit Jekyll and Hyde, he does come to me in the field and will follow me along the fence when I go. It's getting there! He used to stick his ears back at me, so things are definitely improving. He likes me best anyway which is some comfort! Oberon your lad was beautiful.
What have you gone and done???
You've just taken the first step towards a partnership of bliss, that's what!!
You will soon find out that an arab is the best friend you'll ever have!

If you can get to Addington on 20th July there is the Crabbet Convention Horse Parade. About 100 Crabbets will be there, all of whom have achieved success in their sphere. Tickets are only £5 for the day.
My 2 girls will be there, 96% & 98% Crabbet, both 100% GSB.
Not a massive arab fan - had one and loved him- but I LOVE my friends Stallion
We had him out this weekend to get him seen to see if he could maybe score some girlfriends and he's such a poppet.
**all pictures taken by my mum this weekend and his owner will not mind me sharing them- it is she and I in the pictures**

Yup... complete polar opposite to Rods, I think I've done it intentionally though. New boy is so different that there's very little to compare, and I've always had a soft spot for arabs. He arrived on Saturday, so yes, I've bought him!![]()
He's by Montroze, out of Celtic Treasure. He's so chilled out he's almost horizontal. Bless him. We'll blame the sun. The sight of a big glowing yellow thing in the sky has made me think the world must be ending!![]()
Well done you will never regret it, yes they are different 'people', to other horses, you see, they are brilliant, there isn't much they cannot do, and do very well, so enjoy have fun
If you get to the convention let me know, can meet up during the day. There's loads going on, Sunday is a series of talks on Crabbet / arab topics. Those of use who are taking our horses are doing so gratis to support the weekend. Going to cost me a few quid in fuel (4-5 hr journey each way) plus stabling was £120 for 3 nights for the two. Can't wait to meet up with friends though (know via Crabbet Organisation & endurance) & chance to look at other peoples gorgeous horses.
