As you know I had decided to call it a day with Owen and sell him on as a hack/light riding club allrounder for £850.
Put him up with his full story on horsequest and horsemart and have been absolutely innundated with calls and emails from people all over the country ( blimey!)
Ok so I rode him today as usual. Since Ive bought him back into work Ive been riding him in a special numah with a huge hole cut out in th middle which is supposed to take the pressure of the operation site off his back.
This I used following the advice of my physiotherapist and her saddler and they were adamant that I must not use any other kind of saddle cloth on him.
So today I thought Im just going to try and ride him in a normal polypad and just see how he is....
AND
HE WAS A COMPLETLEY DIFFERENT HORSE!!
Soft, forwards, supple just absolutely perfect. Felt a million dollars. Not the hobbling stiff donkey that Ive been riding for the last 3 weeks.
SO if today is not a fluke can safely assume that the saddle cloth was causing him much pain all along.. feel so bad that I did not think of changing that before it must have been agony for him.
So I now have to turn all these people away that were enquiring about him..
whoops! but he certainly did not feel like a £850 horse today more like the horse that he is supposed to be..
Am going to perservere with him for another month or so and see how he goes...
