I spent Derby weekend with my girlfriend at Saratoga racetrack. She got on 3 horses, worth more than your average home, had not problems at all. On Monday she rode a horse worth as much as your average week load of groceries - ended up in the back of an ambulance, lights and sirens, and going to see an orthopedic surgeon tomrrow. Poor thing.

Never been a fan of older horses who are still green/unbroken - they all seem POS to me. She is a better rider then me so I let her choose what she rides.

Well, if you are going to break something, might as well make it spectacular! Hope they set it and fix it soon. Ouch indeed.

Eeek, what a break too! Displaced and incredibly painful for her. The things us women do for some TLC from our men.

Hope she's on the mend soon. Poor, poor gf.

I hope she does too - she is off to see the surgeon today. On the upside, it looks like she will be coming to California with me at the end of the month - nothing like sitting on the beach to promote bone growth.

Duncan just asked if she's been shot too as there's a fragment near to her shoulder which looks more like a bullet than a piece of bone.

California sounds a good idea

That is not actually her x-ray, hers looks like it though!

I told her we have to be careful, in racing a fracture increases fertility in the girls. How many race mares, have a fracture and become pregnent very soon after? MANY!

So very true GTs, so very true!

I can't quite imagine how the world will cope with a mini-GTs though.

Edited to add: So, that x-ray you posted. Are we to assume that person's injury was caused by the bullet hitting their bone?

I am going to say no - it just seemed an awkward place to end up, and on closer inspection it is not bullet shaped. My guess it is a clip holding the sleeve up.

Is that a no to the bullet or the mini GTs or both?

I think you could be right about the x-ray. Tell me, was your gf incredibly brave or were there tears? If there were no tears she has a high pain threshold, you can rest assured that she won't mutilate parts of your anatomy during child birth!

She goes to University 2 hours away, she called me from the hospital and was in fine fettle. Yes it is painful, and she is rather uncomfortable, but she wants to be a jockey, so to her it is like getting a filling.

If she went to grab parts of my anatomy during child birth I will warn her it was similar actions that got her in that position in the first place.
