I am looking for open fronted hind showjumping boots which are soft (without hard plastic tendon protection). I have a young horse who has a large splint on the inside of a hind leg, so I ride in brushing boots to protect it, but would prefer open fronted for showjumping. The hard plastic tendon boot type would not be comfortable over the lump.

I saw some years ago, they were grey with 2 Velcro straps, but now can’t find anything similar online. The closest products I can find are Flika or weighted boots which are designed to aid hind leg action through weights or pressure, but aside from them not being competition legal, that’s not the effect I’m after! I just want protection without the rigid plastic, and open fronted to allow him to feel if he knocks a pole.

Would these be competition legal? Still useful for training if not, but new BS rules re. Hind boots mention no straps that fasten back on themselves?

I don’t know how old you are but years ago woof did some tendon boots that sound like what you mean. I’ve still got some sitting in my boot box!
