I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the an 'Open University' type course for horseracing. Someone told me about it and I a really interesteed but not sure where I can get more info. I have worked in racing for quite a few years and would love to do something like this so I can maybe get a job in a related area such as teaching or race course management. If any one knows anything about it can you let me know

As far as I can see the OU doesn't do anything like that. They do "Sport and Fitness", but that's about it.

Maybe it was a different distance learning company, but I don't know which one.

Have looked on the OU website, and can't really find anything solid.
Could you not phone your local race courses and racing yards, and ask them if they know any places you can do courses??

She said "Open University TYPE course"- Not an open university course itself.

Sorry counter canter, I don't know anywhere yet but I if I see anything, I will give you a bell.

I heard them talking about this on The Morning Line on Saturday and looked into it a bit further, it's run by the British Racing School and Warwickshire College I think, some sort of distance learning but I can't find much more info. Think it's a relatively new thing so I guess keep checking the respective websites about it. There's also a bit about it at www.careersinracing.com....if you hadn't guessed I was also quite interested in it! Hope that helps.
