I'm thinking of opening a tack shop and wonder what your thoughts are.

Years ago we had a lady who had a little 'shack' full of fairly priced goodies, we loved going there and used to come back loaded up with stuff :)

Since she went, no one has done the same and I can honestly say I wouldn't know anywhere close to buy horse stuff (apart from one very expensive place) that does all sorts for lots of animals.

Has anyone done this or can anyone advise who/where I might approach to buy stock?

Thank you!

Are you looking at doing second hand or new. I have to say that retail is so competitive, and really difficult to compete with bigger outlets, that have the capacity (funds/room) to stock a wide range, and the volume to buy a good prices.

I have seen too many retail businesses start up and struggle or even fail to say jump in you will be fine

However, it does not mean that it cannot be done, but I would do my homework first. Also seek professional advice, esp. if contracting re lease, purchase of existing business, etc.

Again I have seen people jump in without solicitor or accountant advice when buying, starting a business, and then once they have lost huge amounts of money, usually all their savings, they bring the mess to same to sort out.
