Opinion on Lameness issues

Hi

Hope i can get some info / help, i have farrier coming tomorrow and after that if he finds nothing i will call the vet.

I have a cob more, who is pretty forward going, last few times (over the course of 2 weeks) that she has been ridden she has been intermittently lame in trot, almost like she is skipping a step or changing legs or sort of hopping, she is sound in walk and canter. It is the worse in the all weather school that on the hard roads, and the same whether schooling or hacking.

She is happy in herself, recently had teeth, back done (and massage) and saddle fitted.

A friend of mine who works at a well respected yard as a groom and rider is convinced she may have a bruised sole as had a similar experience with a horse there.

Just wondered others thoughts / opinions? JUST TO RE ITERATE, FARRIER IS COMING TOMORROW AND WILL CALL VET!

Your farrier should be able to tell you if there is a bruise. My boy was a bit like this and I'm afraid it was soft tissue damage in both front feet! Cue bar shoes and bute!

Hope you're farrier/ vet can sort - I'd have thought a bruse would be worse on the road personally and be broadly consistently painful in all gaits.
Is it worth having the vet booked in ? you can always cancel if farrier finds something - or you may still need the vet for some bute for a really nasty bruse.

very broadly speaking, if the injury is more apparent/painful on soft ground, it is more likely to be some sort of tendon/ligament/soft tissue injury than bruising.

Turns out she had a corn under her shoe, has been having a few days off and will try her again this weekend x
