this is my 7 yr old 16h3 irish mare don't know her full breeding but do know she is out of king of diamond linage. she had a freak accident where she stood on herself and shattered her splint bone resulting in surgery and box rest. there is no guarantee she will become sound so i thought i would put her iun foal and that will give her plenty of time off no piont in rushing her back into work. problem is realy don't know who to put her to so i am look for your exspertis and opinions
this is a couple of pictures of her

depends on what you want to breed?? what are aiming for in a foal, is it to keep or sell. these thing you need to think of??

forgot to say i have one mare in foal for this year and have bred 6 foals before the plan would be to breed something to showjump and i would proberly keep it but it may eventually be sold. just not sure who would complement her

Good old Irish mare ! Use a fine blood stallion - she is short in the neck, good shoulder and nice behind the saddle. Fantastic feet - don't get those with the warmbloods ! If you want an eventer then speak to Jane Hoddeness Roddam at West Kingston for a nice tb but if you want a show-jumper - then put her to a true blood type like the stallion KWPN - Indoctro - small, light and very sharp ! Cardento - also a KWPN stallion has nice types as well but he is a bigger horse !

Remember, her temperment will be dominant in the breeding arrangement, so hopefully she is a good mare and that will come though !

My mare is not dissimilar in type and breeding and I am off to look at the Brendon Hill stud stallions and Windsor Heights. I want a hunter type more than a jumper though. She is lovely, just my stamp of a horse!

I can only highly recommend Brendon Hill stud. They have very nice natured stallions who are very well looked after and Michael is so helpful and friendly. We used It's Without Doubt in 2007 and got a lovely filly this year and are thinking of sending the same mare back to him next summer.
