Ok, so went to see the horse with dodgy fetlocks and love him! Don't think they look as bad as the first photo made out?

He's just turned 4 and needs feet sorting....

If I did get him he would be 5 stage vetted.

Do his fetlocks look that bad? Would if put you off?

I think if you really like him and the vet is happy that his fetlocks arnt going to cause any problems then go for it. IMO its about clicking with a horse that is the most important thing.

I think his pasterns are a weak point, they dont look so bad here but they arent great.
If he's cheap and you like him to ride then take a chance and he may well be sound for life. But he may not and I wouldnt risk more than 1.5k on him

I like him even more today - especially seeing you on board.

If you do go ahead - I agree with Boss - make them an offer.

Also, when you arrange the vetting ask the vet to pay special attention to the feet and his hocks. Oh, and be there.......

Good luck with whatever you decide. He is lovely.

B*ll*cks. Did you ask what it was like with the farrier, and if it had had shoes on??

I think he's rather lovely! If the vet doesnt have any issues with his fetlocks then dont see why you shouldnt go fo it! Hope the vetting comes back clear!

Ive looked at the video.. he has a strange action, and im positive that the biggest issue is his feet are in need of TLC..

I think youd see an improvement in the gait if they were trimmed..

Also.. if your not happy with them.. then dont buy,

Never been shod. Just turned 4. Has been trimmed apparently and was ok. Was a bit snappy to lift feet up when I tried but not bad, just babyish

I like him much more today than from yesterdays pictures.
Agree with Nailed - his peculiar action in front is IMO caused by messy feet and should improve no end with a farrier visit

I like him loads. Is it not his feet that are making him walk that way? I think if he was trimmed properly he would walk completely different.

Well I haven't commented so far and I think you look great on him. He looks a lovely sort and if you are having him vetted and the vet says the fetlocks / pasterns will be ok for the work you want from him then go for it.

I would only get him vetted if they get his feet sorted first. If he comes up lame or similar then vet is not going to be able to tell if feet are the cause or something more similar.

We had a mare vetted years ago who was well over due shoeing she was 3/10ths lame on a circle. Vet said it could have been her feet or might not have been. We didn't buy cos we couldn't tell.

I just don't think its worth paying for a vetting as it is going to make assesing him very difficult.

The other thing is that there is not a horse out there with perfect confirmation and his feet will be a lot better after a farriers been out.

Ok, who did you take with you to look at this horse?

Did you ask them if they were open to offers?

I am wary that they have not attended to his feet for a long, long time. He doesn't look like a horse simply dragged in from the field to sell - so alarm bells are rigning.

What exactly did he do when you picked his feet up?

What is his history (as they told you)?
