Hi all, I am currently developing a app where people can check to a supplement or medication for banned or prohibited substances. The app will tell you if a substance can be used in competition, out of competition and the withdrawal time required before you can enter a competition from scanning the barcode. Also you can enter vaccination done and it will remind you when the next vaccination is due when approaching that date.
The app will populate the equine therapeutic use exemption form if you require one.

So far I have had a lot of positive feedback from the competitors I have contacted. I would love if you guys could let me know their opinion and if they feel this would be a handy app. It will be available in iOS and android and as a webpage.

Thanks very much to everyone.

The FEI provide all the information on their clean sport page

If you are going to develop an app, be aware that formulations of medications can change at the drop of a hat, as can the rules...so keeping it up to date would be crucial.

Most importantly....withdrawal times are not published for most equine medicines....the FEI list a few drugs with their likely detection periods.....this in NOT the same as a guaranteed withdrawal period after which you/your horse are clear to compete.

All horses are all different in how they eliminate drugs, and there are plenty of cases of people being caught out by this. There is the potential for being sued if you try to publish definitive withdrawal times!

Thanks Quizzie. I'm a pharmacist and my partner is a vet. We are aware of formulation changes and medication regulation and licensing. I'm just posting this to see if people would use the app and find it useful.
I have spoken to some of the top riders and they have said that they have stopped using the FEI Clean Sport App as they have entered medications that are prohibited but they have not given a prohibited result. The national FEI vets have told me that they do not recommend the use of the FEI CleanSport App but would welcome a better alternative.
Even the FEI don't guarantee their own detection times!!

Apologies.....one never knows what level of knowledge base people are starting from !!,
You will be only too aware of the pitfalls then!

...in which case....anything that simplifies finding accurate information would be very welcome!.

No need to apologise. All feedback negative and positive is very welcome. I probably should have explained my background in the original post.

The fact it's FEI endorsed/made. I've always found it to be correct to date too.

I'm a small animal vet but competing at FEI level.
