Okay, so here it goes... Basically I've recently started loaning a gorgeous Connemara, he is the sweetest thing ever however though I'm sure his owner means well I constantly feel put down. She's a VERY big worrier an it feel as though she's trying to wrap him up in cotton wool... which personally I don't think is helping him let alone me and my riding! Just wanted some opinions on what you would do from all of you clever horsey people out there! :-)

Her horse, her rules.

If it doesn't suit you then you need to decide whether to work with her or to end the loan and look for someone who will let you do what you want.

This, essentially. We've given back a pony in the past because we couldn't cope with the owner... Not worth the endless stress and worry for us or her we felt.

Agreed with the above love, as annoying as it may seem to be. Try looking at it from her perspective, you've only started loaning him recently, it'll take time for her to settle that another person is sharing her beloved pony and for you to both get used to each other, and at the end of the day - it is her pony. If it is getting to unbearable though, call it a day and move on, there is no point arguing.

It's always worth trying to understand where another person is coming from and why they are loaning rather than selling but at the end of the day, it's their horse, their rules, and unless you can find some common ground better to walk away.

Another who agrees with her horse, her rules. Personally I would persevere and hope when she sees I'm competent, perhaps she will worry less! Sounds like she is only looking out for the horses bests interests. It wouldn't put me off unless she has completely unreasonable requests!
