Opinions on Bates Caprilli GP saddles

Anyone use one?

Do they have fairly wide panels at the back, suitable for a flat-backed horse?

Are they comfy, is the leather good quality and do they have enough knee support for jumping (Up to 3ft ish, hunting, XC etc)

Any other comments appreciated.

I have one, its not massively comfy but it does the job. I hack in my dressage saddle as its much comfier. I wouldn't want to sit on it for a whole day's hunting. The leather is a nice quality, can't comment on whether it fits a flat backed horse as mine isn't!
 
They are good quality well made saddles however I wouldnt go for the gp version....sat in one and wasnt a huge fan plus Im with the school of thought that gp stands for generally pointless!

I have the bates momentum which I LOVE! I seem to be doing pretty ok dressage wise in it to until I can warrant paying out for a dressage saddle. If your not stuck on doing lots and lots of dressage all the time I would personally go for a jumping saddle every time.....

I have one on my cob and one on my ISH youngster. Cannot speak highly enough of them! I do everything in them. I mostly dressage my youngster but do eventing, xc, hunting, fun rides etc with the cob in it and find it very comfy!

The trees aren't actually banana shaped like the Wintec, but I would advise getting a saddler to fit it to your horse. Flat-backed types can be relatively hard to fit a saddle to. We have to have a Kent & Masters cob for our friesian x drp very very flat-backed cobby type!
 
I absolutely love my Bates saddles they are very well made and the leather is excellent quality - made in Australia.

I've had several and would buy the cheaper version for the school whenever they came on the market.

Currently my Olympia - which is the cheaper version (part leather part synthetic) is on my Clydesdale which has a back you could hold a banquet on.
