And a couple of how muchs, sorry!
Going horse hunting this w/e, and found a couple possibilites, looking to buy, bring on a bit and sell on quickly.
A 16.3 9yr old, done a wee bit, jumping, flatwork, green in the respect of an outline. Very quiet. Needs a bit of condition, has a lump on his knee from falling on the road, but its been going down since he did it I think a while ago.

15.2 cob, quiet in all respects, hacked, pops a jump, same as above re: flatwork. Quiet again. Both suitable for novices.

15.2 gelding, 10yr old, done 1m xc, hunted 3/4 seasons. done PC with 14yr old and endurance with her granny (up to 25K) done 90cm SJ

all sound, no vices etd. Last needs sedated to clip, would it affect you?
Would a blemish as above affect you? (Not unsounda t all)

Out of those 3 I would buy the 2nd one. If you are questioning a blemish so is everyone else. A Nice quiet cob will always sell and if its cheap you should make a bit of cash. A 15.2 non cob horse has less of a market than the cob.

The knee would bother me. I bought a horse with a lump on its knee and he developed arthritis in it very early. Unless it happened in the last few months and has been going down noticeably I would steer clear.

kk, just looking for opinions, I kind of agree it would be harder to sell on but it is VERY cheap so may go an have a look (is at the same place as the cob)
The third one is a stocky horse apparently, cheaper than the cob too.
Of course they all sound lovely on the phone!

Hmmm -

I have got three huge spots and I know I would mark myself down for them.

However with a horse if it can do the job with the blemish why not?

my horse did a similar thing before i got her, when she was in ireland she came down on the yard, due to what i have been told a bad handler, she was given time to heel and sold on to a reputable dealer in uk i bought her about 3 months after the accident still has a blemish but just scare tissue never caused her any problems 9 yrs on. she was bought for me to learn to ride on so wasnt an issue then , for me i agree with feufolet if the horse did the job and the blemish didnt effect it i wouldnt be put off
