I really need some new smart breeches and am thinking about forking out for some Cavallos (I'm really fussy and just can't find any that I like in the shops round here which have a rubbish selection). I'm thinking about either the Chagall or the Champion as on here:

Does anyone have any opinions on them - material, fit, sizing, value for money etc? They look horrendously expensive but I don't mind paying it if they're going to look smart and last a long time...

Or any suggestions for alternative makes for petite people? I'm 5'5 and a size 8 and find it hard to find breeches that are a snug fit and don't fit weird on the legs due to being made for people with legs 6" longer than mine!!!

thanks

I have a pair of cavallo breeches for competition and they have been with me for abour 8 years now. I am 5ft 5 size 8 (was 6 when i bought them) They are looking tired now but they have been fantastic. I am too really fussy, hate the way some crinckle round the knee too much! I was desperate at Blair so bought a pair of schumaker and they have so far been ok. The best breeches I have which are everyday are RTS. Really fantastic breeches.

i've got about 5 pairs of cavallos, for everyday and for shows. the show ones i bought in 1992ish and they're still going strong. i get the full-seat chagalls and absolutely adore them. great fit, really last, wash brilliantly. the everyday ones last for about 8 years for me, 2 pairs at a time, worn 3-4 days a week for about 9 months of the year. when it's bitterly cold i need something slightly warmer. well worth the ££s, as £30-£40 breeches last me a year or two.

i'm 5'10" size 12ish though, not got skinny thighs (unfortunately) so can't vouch for the fit on slimmer legs than mine!

the shops in our area are rubbish i agree with you! derby house now have a branch in malton though so they may stock the cavallos there if you wanted to go have a look and a try on. I also know that r&r do the schumacher ones. Not had cavallos myself but have had schumacher ones and they were gorgeous! just make sure you use a leather wash to keep the seat nice!

I'm 5ft5 too and have breeches from 22 to 26 - the majority of which are Cavallo, Eurostar and Pikeur.

I have full-seat Chagalls for everyday and they seem to repel dirt, the fabric doesn't go baggy or pill and they wash really really well (the seat won't go crispy).

Eurostar ones are great too - i've had one pair for three years and they have a hole in the knee which hasn't got any bigger/freyed because the fabric is such good quality.

I seriously save up to get a new pair of breeches but I have 5 pairs being worn day in-day out and they all look brand new - certainly worth the money.

I have Euro Star for every day and competition they are donkeys old now and still going strong. I did recently buy some white Pikeurs for competition as the Euro Stars were a bit grey and tired looking but have gone back to them because they are so comfy!
I will have a look at Cavallo when my Euro Stars die lol!

brilliant thanks all. duckpond what size did you buy please?

hi georgie girl - you're right R&R do schumacher, i went in there on Saturday but they only had about 2 pairs, neither of which was my size!
