Opinions on cobs/maxi cobs

cant beat anything cobby, i have found they can turn a 'hoof' to almost anything. may not be the best but have a good go and lots of fun :)

Need to add mounted games to the list that our cob does after the fab time girl has just had on him blasting up & down bending poles trying to slam cups on!!! Also you do see tons at national level so they can't all be that fat & lazy all the time lol!! :D

Oh cobs all the way.

They can come 6th at National Pony Club Championship Dressage :)

I think a lot of people underestimate cobs. As a rule, they're hardy all-rounders, not "fat" or "lazy". Yes, you'll find a lazy one here and there, same goes for most other breeds / types.

My cob may fit into the fat category, but man he can move!

I'm assuming you are asking this with your tongue firmly in your cheek OP? They are so much more than that. What a shame if that is what people only ever believe them to be.

here here what a load of rubbish i have 16 hand cob she is far from lazy and she is very light in the mouth i bet if wanted to hunt her she would go all day long, i have also had 3 show cobs over the years who have all done extremely well in the showing ring just because they are cobs doesnt mean they are fat and lazy my mare has alot of muscle and doesnt really carry much fat my vet said she is the correct weight for her build so pooh pooh to all you peeps who dont like our cobs

has any one got any piccies of show level 'maxi cobs'? and whats the largest cob you can show without it being classed as fat? i ask this because i look at the heavy weight working hunters and well... to me the just look like big fat horses? how can such a large horse be fit? is it just huge muscle?

I love my maxi cob! ive done her in ridden showing and came 2nd, and best junior in my class, Inhand and 3rd! 6th in bending race at local gymkhana soo happy after just 5 weeks!

Hunthebun - loved it, watched it 3 times. You ride very well and that is one lovely cob.

Opinions on cobs - done to death I am afraid. I have one, I love him to pieces. I have a warmblood thing as well and love her to pieces. Have also owned an Arab as well and loved him to pieces as well.

Have come to the conclusion that the cob is a very superior type of horse to have so much forum space devoted to it on HHO. I have owned my cob nearly 7 years and when he shuffles off to the great paddock in the sky, I will definitely buy another. A cob can do anything.

Some cobs will be lazy, some might be fat and some will be lazy and fat but that can be said of all other breeds/types of horse.

Personally, I'd love a maxi cob :)

I LOVE my maxi cob! He is a total dude! Unbelievably easy to look after, affectionate (esp with food!!) and quite often takes off with me across a field cos he feels like it!! ha ha. However put a novice/child on him and he is their rock.

Yes they are fat...very fat but from working and riding the ones at HOYS level deff not lazy...most of them ride more like warmbloods! I'm not a fan of them myself as I own warmbloods but my god I love riding them!

Just came on here and noticed all your lovely comments, thank you very much! He really is such a gentleman :)

And yes, we were lucky enough to win the young rider bursary so I am looking forward to having Dodson and Horrell's help in the coming year :)

And I will pass the videography compliments onto my dad! x
