Opinions on his back confo re saddle problems

Bryndu - yes the Ideal WH is what I bought when I brought him back into work last year, it was the only one that I could get to fit him nicely back then and lovely to ride in but he filled out pretty much all over since then, I thinking WH in an extra wide in a 16.5" could be a possiblity but I get a saddler to take a look first so we can throw a few ideas about.

Thanks for everyones help.

Don't waste your money on made to measure or brand new saddle as I can guarantee that he will change shape and the saddle will not fit him in say 6-8 months time. This is for the reasons I stated earlier about his build and from what you have said since my last post it seems to confirm it. Get a wider saddle, get it over flocked or padded at the front, work him and in 6 months time or so he should have started changing shape to a narrower fitting saddle. Don't go down the different saddles shapes, sizes, numnahs, girths or whatever to try to make it fit, go back to basics, get a good secondhand saddle that's slightly wider than he needs, make sure it isn't past the last floating rib so you have the correct length. Once flocked accordingly it will work. Once he has changed shape, has balanced himself up and is in regular work,THEN that is the time to get a brand new saddle if you must and you will find he is a regular medium or at most m/w fit, there's nothing wrong with his shape that work and a good saddle won't sort out!
