Opinions on horse breaking?

Was suppose to be sending my youngster to a reputable trainer that was at the very top end of my budget well over £200 a week, but then yesterday when i phoned them they were very rude on the phone when i was asking them some questions and also came across that horse would be more of a pain than anything, now i am thinking of finding somewhere else to send him as it has put me off tbh
Am i over reacting?
 
You're the customer - you decide how and where you spend your money

In this day and age, customer service is important :)

Take your money (and horse) where it'll be appreciated :) :)
 
After a nasty experience I recently had with a horse trainer if you have any doubts at all do not send them there, as above poster said it,s your money take it somewhere where they respect you and your horse.

I have decided that mine is being done at home with a freelance trainer coming to me, it is working out a lot cheaper to as I do not have to pay livery I am also going to be involved with the training process.

Vote with your feet. If they can't be bothered to be polite before you even get there, they clearly don't value your business.
Ask for personal recommendations if possible when looking for another trainer. Word of mouth is a good way to find someone. Sending your horse to a trainer is always going to cost a lot so make sure you are happy with what you are getting for your money.
 
It sounds as if they are not very patient if they couldn't be bothered to answer questions. I think you are right to go elsewhere, you need a lot of patience for breaking horses. Well, for doing anything with horses really!

The person you choose is going to set the foundations for your baby for the rest of their lives, so don't hand your horse or your money over unless you are 100% happy. If you post the general area you are in, someone on here may well be able to recommend somewhere.
 
No!! Not over reacting at all, if you have even the slightest feeling of doubt about the person who is going to back your youngster, run away fast! You only ever get one chance to do it right first time. They don't sound very nice at all:(
 
Thanks everyone been really helpful i have had them work with another horse and they were very good but don't really want to take my youngster somewhere where i may feel like i am in the way as think as the trainer is getting bigger she sees the smaller clients as a big of a waste of time, and made me feel as if i was stupid and small so will have to start looking else where.

How DO these people stay in business?? Doesn't matter HOW good a trainer you are, if you don't have time to TALK to owners, reassure them on any worries they may have AND give them regular updates on progress you don't DESERVE to stay in business!

Go with your instinct! If they don't have time for you, chances are they won't give your horse enough time either!
 
Goodness if they couldn't be polite and patient with me on the phone I'd dread to think how they are with the horses! I always back mine slowly and calmly and would hate someone who did it hurried and in a tense atmosphere - the horse will pick up on it. It is so easy to do it wrong - I would definatly be looking around for someone else. People like that dont deserve your hard earned money.
