Opinions on horse?

He looks a lot better and much more relaxed. I still don't think he is 100 per cent sound but I bet he has flat feet and might just need a pair of front shoes. He reminds me of my Irish cob mare who was foot sore and then when she had shoes on was fine. Are you going to see him? hope we haven't all put you off he is going to be lovely x

Still not sure yet, it's a 2 hour or so journey away, so unless I see any other horses that take my fancy on the way/in his area, I don't think i'll be making the journey just for the one horse. If he turned out to be unsound, it would be a wasted journey (and petrol!), but if he was unsound and I still had a look at some others to look at that day, it wouldn't be so bad.

yes it is a long way to go but you must have liked him? Good luck in your search let us know how it goes.

Cannot view the vid due to being on a 'mobile device'. I don't believe this pony is unhappy due to circumstance but discomfort. I don't like the saddle fitting - looks like it will eventually end up around his ears. The jockey is an excellent camouflager though. Still like the pony though!

Feel that what I said in my previous post has stuck. With this rider the horse will be good, but it is still unlevel.

I would not view unless a full and frank conversation re unlevel. If they are rude and defensive then that is your answer. If not shod and it is sore then I might view, but would want it shod up before vetting. If no explanation then would not view. The rider obviously knows it is nodding, so the rider would have to tell me a good tale to make me want to travel.

Don't know when the latest vid was shot but frankly we are so dry here even Valegro would look unlevel in the field. He's very green and sometimes struggles with his balance, he seems to jump honestly, a bit untidy in front but he's only 5! he's no world beater, a bit short in the neck but looks quite pretty and willing. The vid is edited, so for all we know he might have had a complete breakdown, bucked for England and thrown himself on the ground in a tantrum, but some how, I don't think so. my bet is that he's actually quite a nice type. At a £1K price tag and brought on nicely, he'd be a lovely PC type for reasonably confident rider and would be worth twice that that and a bit more in a years time provided he has good manners, loads etc etc. I sometimes think that we get so obsessed with how a horse goes, that we forget all the other things that add real value to a horse or pony and they can't be sold via a video like this.

There's unlevel & there's lame. I suspect it's the saddle pinching. Either way, he's a generous sort.

The price tag is significantly more than £1k, nearer the value suggested he will be worth in a year, they may be open to offers but unlikely to drop down to £1k and if they do that would set further alarm bells ringing.

If I was interested I'd just go and have a look - because how are you to know otherwise? If a 2 hour journey is too much then you're not that interested, all of this is supposition anyway.

ETA - unless someones knows better?

Game little pony, but wasn't sure if he was sound, could just be unbalanced on the turns. Very green, but looks to have a lovely temperament.

I thought this too.
I think he's over bitted, looks too sensitive for a gag which I think is why he looks awkward.
But a lovely looking pony. He's clearly willing to please.

You may as well go to Ireland and pick up one for £500 or less ( meat money) that's what they are going for horses like him. However if he was sound I would buy him (for £1000) get him out and then sell him next spring for £3000. I get the feeling that you are not going to see him now and are probably doing the right thing as there are heaps of sound cheap ponies for sale!!

I would rather throw £3000 down the drain than spend it on that horse I'm afraid. He's never going to be worth that. Conformationally he is poor. He's bog standard in looks.

I'd take a punt at a grand. Correct schooling & management & change of saddle! could make a nice little PC pony.

£1850 is massively over priced, but it's important to remember that he's only going to be worth what somebody thinks he is.

He could be someone's dream looking pony for all we know. He's not a huge fancy Warmblood, but he's also not the ugliest thing I've seen. Each to their own when it comes to horse preference.

If he were sound I'd be happy to pay £1000 but not a penny more. He looks sweet, willing and responsive. I think he'd make a great little PC pony with some more exp. under his belt and he looks like a like a nice little character.

Lovely little horse! Would like to know why the horse is being ridden (and filmed) while slightly lame. Either rider doesn't know ... or more likely does know and is trying to cover it up. The horse may be on medication too. If it was a short term lameness, I would buy the horse. The horse seems v unsure and quite nervous etc. since you are planning to go right back to basics (which I totally agree with by the way!!) you would be able to work slowly, build trust, do things your own way and so could sort these issues out . The downside is the lameness because going to see the horse may result in you just being told a story and persuaded to believe there is nothing wrong when there is ... although that may not be the case. How much do you like this horse? Do you think he is willing to please? I do. Would you mind wasting a few hours just to give the horse a chance? a vet check would soon tell you what's really up .. it depends how much you like the horse and how far you are willing to go out of your way for him?

Money wise, I wouldn't spend that much if he hasn't had much experience, not much really to do with the horse, just think sellers are ripping off. Go with your gut feeling. I would go out of interest if you really like the horse but you can't trust anyone. Lame horse filmed for sale ... don't know ... something dodgy there I suspect.

Definitely think lovely little horse and could do v well that is if he stays sound. Hopefully he will get a good home if you don't take him.
