Hiya

I’m thinking of getting some ice boots for travelling home in. I hate putting travel boots or bandages on after he’s worked hard as just feel they don’t keep his tendons cool. I thought that travelling back in ice boots may be a good solution.

Has anyone had similar thoughts they’d share with me and if so, what brand boots would you recommend that will protect his legs to travel too?

Buy some Theraflex gel packs online. Freeze at home, then on the day put them into an ice box. When you need them , put a J cloth over the leg,.then the Theraflex and secure in place with any wrap around boot.

There's no need to buy expensive "ice boots" as essentially they are the same thing. But about 5 times the cost .

I wouldn’t travel in them unless very short distances- 20mins is optimal timing for cooling. Beyond that you either cool too much or the boots simply start warming up and become insulating, holding in heat
Very good point. It’s usually to fun rides which are generally 30 mins away. Made me think then maybe there’s some mesh style cooler travel boots? Im looking!

Ice gel after riding or the theraflex (which I got from a recomm on here) packs from the freezer/fridge with boots but not for travelling. Cool after riding then remove and use whatever travel boots you normally use.

Horsewares Ice Vibe ice packs are useful - they're shaped and have velcro on for going around a horses legs so no faffing with them slipping or attaching them. You don't need the ice vibe boots or any other type of boot to keep them on although I would probably want to if travelling.

Those look useful to have on standby in the freezer in case of injury. I have bought two pairs in x-full.

I used to take my Ice Vibe boot and an instant ice pack, the type you strike on the palm of your hand to break up the chemical inside and then shake to make it cold.

I used to put the outer ice vibe boots with a couple of vibrating panels inside over the top of the cold pack. Never used to travel home in it though.
