Hi all,

I've been looking for a horse for loan for a while now and have managed to find one i really like and get along with. I tryed her for a second time today and the owner said she like for me to jump her at a competition on Saturday and before that have a lesson on Thursday so i am really sure she is right for me.

I already have 2 horses on DIY livery and the stable next to me was supposed to be coming free this month so i could have it. The current livery has messed them around and now said she is staying so therefore i cannot have the stable. I only found this out a few days ago and am now stuck for a stable for my hopefully new horse. The owner of the horse is keen for her to go soon after we decide.

Me and mum disscussed it with the maintainence man for the yard (As there are 10 more stables going up but they havent started work on that yet) and he said he would speak to the constrcution people and see when they are starting work. There is another yard close by that offers livery, but no turnout. I see turnout as a big thing for my horses and the hopefully new horse is used to turnout.

Should i try and find somewhere else for the hopefully new horse to go? Or should i try and hang on until the new stables are built? An issue of that is i have no idea how long they will be and do not want to mess the hopefully new horse owner around.

Thanks for replys
Lucy :)

I think that unless you can find somewhere soon for the new horse, it would only be fair to tell the owner you can no longer have her. You can't possibly expect her to wait til new stables are built, that could be months.

Could your new one not live out until they are built?
If not, I would definitely look into somewhere else, I, like you, see turn out as a big deal and don't like them not having turnout :)

Can't you keep her where she is for now? You should discuss the situation with the owner and then between you decide what is best for the horse. If you could keep her where she is it would save having to unsettle her moving her twice and the owner would get to know you better. All depends on the situation really as to whether its feasible.

Good luck with her :)

Use two stables for three horses? One in, two out at night (to keep each other company), two in one out during the day with everyone else from the yard until the stables are built.

I was just talking to mum about this actually and i think it might be the way forward! There are four horses out at night at the moment so they shouldnt get lonely :)
