Opinions on muscle and topline, how much more work have I got?

Took a photo of my boy tonight and wondered if anyone fancied giving us some CC on how he's looking. :)

He's not been back in work very long, and only over the last few weeks has he been in regular work (4-5 times a week, mixture of schooling, lunging and hacking)

Do you think I have very far to go?

Thank you, technically he is although he never made it to a race, only in race training. He was too slow and is far too laid back.

ah yes perhaps :) I see the similarity.

She is looking lovely :D

Unfortunately these are last summer photos, she's currently a little fat, not very fit, and looks moth eaten now she is half way through shedding her wooly mammoth winter coat

Tell me about it!! Mine loses his winter coat quickly but it means that I go home each night with a throat full of horse hair! :) I wish the weather would warm up now so he can have a proper bath!

Such a pain isn't it?! My girl goes all patchy and horrible while she's changing, luckily she's got a gorgeous summer coat to make up for it! I'm also waiting for that time, bring on more sun! :)

Good condition wise but you do still have a way to go :)

A couple of weeks is nothing... I'd expect 12 weeks of hard work to expect to see a big change in a horses topline and muscle definition.

ImmyS and Horseymumma - Both look lovely :)

HM, Personally I would like a bit more over the top of the bum, but your horse is looking in really good condition :)

Thanks :) yes I agree he has a little bum at the moment. He is learning to engage his back end more and carry himself better so hopefully we'll see some difference soon.

Yes I think we do too, just wondered what you all thought as I am not very good at knowing what he should be looking like at different stages.

I am glad he has managed to keep a good condition despite the bad winter we've had. Plenty of haylage and linseed oil has been the key for him. :)

They both share northern dancer lines, maybe that's where the similarity comes in? :)

Ditto here. One of mine looks very similar in shape and colour to both of these. Would be interesting to see what other lines they may share!

Not sure re. the Northern Dancer... Both Bee and Reg have him in their bloodlines, and are chalk and cheese in appearance:

Reg (who is already this chunky, but will hopefully pack a bit ore on this year- this photo is from last summer though)

Bee, before she was properly in work (she's got slimmer, and more muscle now)

Reg is over 17hh now, and Bee is just hitting 16hh...
