Hi
Am in the process of changing my car and after a very tiring day yesterday have whittled it down to a choice of 2.
So our final choices are:
Range Rover - not the sport just a normal diesel (3 litre i think),automatic, on an 02 plate. Is right at the top of our budget but really smart to look at, mileage is quite reasonable, has all the gadgets and obviously brilliant to tow with. Husband is concerned about the fact we have a very tight driveway and I am prone to scratching the freelander I have now!
2nd choice is a Mitsubishi Shogun 03 plate, long wheelbase, diesel again I think 3.2 litres but on a manual this time. This again has reasonable mileage and is £3K cheaper than the range rover! It has an even bigger boot than the rangie which with 3 dogs, one a GSD is a big plus and has the extra 2 seats which could be useful. This one is a more basic model but has a/c and leather which is all I am worried about as far as luxuries go! Now my concern with this is that I have heard they are bad to tow with? Does anyone have any experience of this?
I will be towing an ifor 505 with 2 450kg horses and I do have the correct licence as I am getting on a bit!
Now as a precursor to further suggestions particularly about landrovers my husband is a landrover geek being the chairman of a 4x4 response team and a very popular forum so we know all about discoveries and defenders. We actually have a 90 but it is my husbands toy and is always broken! And we would love a D3 but they are slightly out of our price range and not interested in the one before (mainly down to looks - very shallow me!)
So if anyone has any experience or opinions on the above I would be really keen to hear them!
Thanks lots
