opinions on these clippers please..

Thats what was bugging me.. :/

but, this part of the advert

""Masterclip" horse clippers are compatible with
Heiniger & Liveryman Calypso blades. "

made me wonder if they were the same clippers just without the brand name on them :/

I've seen those clippers on ebay too. I would be slightly wary of them because they are from Hong Kong and not a reputable clipper maker such as Heineger, Hauptner etc. I would stick with a well known brand name in case they go wrong. If they do go wrong at least you can send them off to be mended and know they can be mended. If they are of unknown make it might be slightly more difficult.

I got my Hauptner clippers for £28 on Ebay - sent them off to be serviced and it cost me £40 plus the blades being sharpened. Bargain!!!

I think because its clipping time, everyone wants a fortune for a set.

Thank you for the advice, I might see what else I can find.

How did you know they were from HK?

Just had a look and I was thinking of different ones - also compatible with various other makes - which are from Hong Kong. Wouldn't know what to say about the ones you are interested in... why don't you ring the company and ask them about them?

I got GTS clippers from Ebay a couple of months ago - they are compatable with Henniger abd Liveryman blades too and when I went to tack shop I had a look at the actual Liveryman clippers they are the exact same, same accessories, same box, same everything, just a different name on them. Only difference is the Liveryman cost £259.00 and mine cost £120...

The ones I got look the exact same as the ones you are looking at - so they probably are... Personally i'd get them....

They look the same as Heiniger clippers to me. But if you're looking to save money in the long term, you are better off buying from a clipper specialist. At least if anything goes wrong they will get it sorted for you!

My friend got a pair last year. They look good in the flesh. Only downside was they are VERY noisy and big.

The size may just be me as I use smaller / lighter clippers for my boy but they were exceptionally noisy.

For the money my friend was pleased with them. I wouldn't trade them for my little clippers tho (and my friend borrowed mine for trickier bits on her horse.)

Thanks everyone..

Pony HAS to be sedated to be clipped anyway, so I doubt the noise is going to be much of an issue.

I'm probably just going to get them and have done with it.

Thanks
xx
